Deputy Sheriff Perez Bruner

Deputy Sheriff Perez Bruner has proudly dedicated 26 years to serving and protecting the citizens of Geneva County. Throughout his law enforcement career, he has built a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to public safety, community service, and accountability. Deputy Sheriff Bruner currently serves as supervisor of the deputies and as Evidence Custodian, along with holding numerous other responsibilities within the Sheriff’s Department. His extensive law enforcement experience includes criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, accident investigation, report writing, evidence handling, court room testimony, warrant service, crisis intervention, and deescalation.

He is also actively involved in leading the drug take-back program, patrol operations, school and youth safety initiatives, community outreach, and emergency response efforts. Known for treating citizens with dignity and respect, Deputy Sheriff Bruner works closelywith fellow officers, local agencies, and community partners to strengthen trust between law enforcement and the people they serve. His leadership reflects a deep dedication to reducing crime, supporting families, and helping create a safer community for all residents.

In addition to his law enforcement service, Deputy Sheriff Bruner is passionate about mentoring young people and encouraging them to make positive, responsible choices.

He has experience speaking with youth groups, students, and community organizations on topics such as leadership, decision making, safety, accountability, and positive life choices.

He also previously served as a D.A.R.E. instructor, further demonstrating his commitment to guiding young people toward personal growth and future success. Outside of his professional service,  Deputy Sheriff Bruner enjoys traveling with his wife of five years. He is also a talented artist who enjoys drawing portraits of people.

Support deputies and staff by improving training, morale, equipment, and workplace accountability.

Operate the jail responsibly by maintaining safety, proper staffing, humane conditions, and programs that reduce repeat offenses.

Build trust with the community through transparency, respectful policing, and regular communication with citizens.

Strengthen school and youth safety by supporting school resource officers, anti-drug education, mentoring, and violence prevention programs.

Partner with local agencies including police departments, courts, schools, churches, nonprofits, and emergency services.

Finally, use taxpayer money wisely by managing the Sheriff’s office budget responsibly and seeking grants when available.
